33nd AEDEM Annual Meeting
Dear members of the AEDEM family,
I’m really thrilled to welcome you to Seville and greet you here in our city, which is all dressed up for a colourful spring, and hope you have an unforgettable stay.
Seville is a city where the concepts of tradition and modernity have known how to fuse over the years, adapting for itself for and what it exports an image of socio-economic integration in its different government and business structures.
Inclusive thinking, be it social or gender, etc., enables a diversity in the possible strategies to follow that undoubtedly enhance the destination of institutions and firms. Hence, from our field of action, science, we have the obligation to appropriately channel this in order to generate a synergy which allows aligning the competitive and comparative advantages of the human resources available. AEDEM is an association which mainly assembles university scientists and being the university people that we are we must resolve the problems which are generated in our environment or implement the benefits of the routes undertaken.
The Pablo de Olavide University of Seville is a trailblazer in this sense as, since its foundation in 1997, its first rector Professor Rosario Valpuesta, set out the integration of distinct social groups within the institution’s strategic action lines; an example being starting up the first sweet shop run by disabled staff from the Albatros Andalucía Foundation.
This is why the proposals of real equality in process management or decision making makes this XXXIII edition of AEDEM a meeting for the creation of management synergies within diversity and talent, a challenge that will certainly improve the parameters of current academic and business analysis. Firms must be the drivers generating employment and the riches of society and we cannot ignore the lack of equality of opportunities which have historically prevailed in business structures. An innovative present in the proposals of a leadership in equality will permit a future adapted to a changing social environment and one which is increasingly more sensitive to matters of integration in the bodies of decision making, family reconciliation, specialised attention, etc.
Dear friends, recalling the words of Francisco José Cossío Silva, who was the first Vice President of the AEDEM family, “Sevilla has a certain unique charisma, an eagerness to, being the host, endeavour to share with the friends who have arrived from other cities whatever we have, be it great or small”, we wholeheartedly welcome you, hoping you enjoy a wonderful stay in our city and that what is our present these days will tomorrow become an enriching future.
